Corrie’s whole career has been cross-cultural. Originally from West Virginia, she’s always had an innate desire to explore other cultures. She got her start doing overseas mission work in high school and college and then taking part in the International Students’ Club at Concord University, where she majored in English, Journalism, and Public Relations.
After visiting a dozen countries, she has chosen Greenville, SC as the perfect place to settle down. Before moving to Greenville, Corrie worked at the University of Kentucky as a Campus Chaplain for international students, setting up an ESL (English as a Second Language) program, directing a Language Partner Program, and leading a summer exchange program for American and Chinese students in western China.
After gaining her master’s certificate in Intercultural Studies and Teaching ESL from Wheaton College, she moved to China long-term to the Beijing Institute of Technology where she taught Oral English, Cross-cultural Communication, and Writing. She has also taught ESL classes on the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language), Grammar, and American Culture for study abroad programs such as the Mexican government’s Proyecta Program and Pinnacle Teaching Solutions in the West Bank of Palestine.
Corrie moved to Greenville in 2019 to work with World Relief Upstate as an Employment Specialist, networking with local employers to place refugees into jobs and train them for career pathways. This was her introduction to business development, and she fell in love with the idea of matchmaking ready-to-work foreign nationals with desperate-to-hire employers. During that time, she also gained her PMP Certification (Project Management Professional) with the global Project Management Institute. She looks forward to using her cross-cultural and project management background to serve BDV clients well.
After raising over half a million dollars for missional endeavors over the years, Corrie also serves on the side as a Fundraising Coach, helping clients support their non-profit work both in the US and overseas. In her free time, Corrie enjoys hiking, camping, serving in her church, cooking ethnic foods, and attending international festivals in the Upstate.
